Pat Mesiti – Soaring Higher Pat Mesiti International Motivational Speaker gives you principles to soar higher!
What you've got ain't much, but it is all you need We ought to be thankful for what we have, rather than peering around and wondering why we can’t have what he’s got or what she’s got. While you are complaining about what you don’t have, you can’t appreciate what you do have. Sometimes we think, ‘Why can’t I have that person’s wealth?’ Maybe you need to be thankful for what you have and what you can do with what you have. Often we don’t see the challenges, investments, decisions and sacrifices others have made on their road to success. We should not desire someone else’s harvest when we haven’t dirtied our own hands to sow the seeds that got them there. Be thankful for what you've got. There is a tale told about a wealthy man’s son who expected to receive a sports car for his graduation. Instead, his dad called him into his study, told him that he loved him and handed him a box. When the son opened the box he found a leather Bible with his name inscribed on the inside. Angrily he said, ‘With all the money you've got you give me a lousy Bible!’ He stormed out and never spoke to his father again. Years later the son received a call to say that his dad had died and left him everything. Going through his father’s belongings, the son found that old Bible still in its box. Tearfully he noticed that his dad had underlined a verse of Scripture. It said, ‘If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more should your father give to them that ask.’ As the son read the words, a car key fell out of the Bible. On the key was a tag with the dealer’s name printed on it. The key belonged to the sports car he had wanted years earlier. On the tag, beside his graduation date, were the words ‘Paid in full. Love, Dad’. Sometimes we are like this young man. We complain about what we don't have and don't realise the treasure that is within our grasp. If we could only explore what we already have been given! Challenge Today, be thankful for your family. Be thankful for the country you live in. Be thankful for the food you have. Be thankful for the freedom you have. Be thankful that every day you can live in safety and security. Be thankful that you have air to breathe, even though it may be a little smoggy. Be thankful for the little things, because they are a key that will open up incredible doors.
